Pump.fun has generated more than $10 million in fees over a single week for the first time, marking a new milestone for the Solana-based token launch and trading platform as speculative activity returns to the memecoin market.
Data tracked by DeFiLlama show Pump.fun’s fee generation accelerating in the third quarter, with the protocol already generating more than $16 million in gross protocol revenue during Q3 despite the quarter being only weeks old. The platform’s underlying protocol fees have exceeded $12 million, while additional revenue has been generated through creator fees, Mayhem and other mechanisms. The latest weekly record is notable because Pump.fun’s business is directly tied to activity rather than token prices alone. Every increase in token launches and secondary-market trading creates additional fee revenue, giving the platform one of the more straightforward revenue models among major crypto applications.
Pump.fun allows users to create tokens without an upfront creation fee. Trading on its bonding curves and PumpSwap exchange generates fees distributed between the protocol, token creators and liquidity providers, with the precise split varying according to a token’s market capitalization and trading pair.
Pump.fun’s Revenue Engine Is Recovering
The $10 million weekly threshold provides another indication that activity on Solana’s speculative trading markets is recovering. Pump.fun has developed from a simple token launcher into a vertically integrated ecosystem encompassing token creation, bonding-curve trading and PumpSwap, allowing the company to capture economic activity across a larger portion of a memecoin’s lifecycle. The economics can be substantial during periods of elevated speculation. Pump.fun generated $108.29 million in gross protocol revenue during Q1 2026 and another $79.19 million during Q2, according to DeFiLlama. Its protocol-fee component alone generated $82.23 million and $62.06 million during those quarters, respectively.
Those figures also show why the latest weekly record matters. After revenue slowed considerably from earlier peaks, crossing $10 million in a week suggests trading activity is beginning to accelerate again rather than merely stabilizing. Pump.fun’s fee model has evolved alongside the platform. Under its current schedule, early bonding-curve trades carry total fees of 1.25%, while fees on graduated PumpSwap tokens vary with market capitalization. Token creators receive a portion of trading fees, giving successful creators an incentive to continue building activity around their coins.
More Fees Mean More Firepower for PUMP Buybacks
The recovery has direct implications for holders of Pump.fun’s PUMP token because a substantial portion of the platform’s economics has been directed toward token repurchases. DeFiLlama estimates that Pump.fun spent approximately $83.01 million on PUMP buybacks during Q1 2026 and another $56.01 million during Q2. Buybacks have continued during the third quarter, linking platform activity more directly with demand for the token.
That structure makes fee growth particularly important to investors. Higher trading activity produces more protocol revenue, which can increase the resources available for repurchases if Pump.fun maintains its existing approach. The milestone also illustrates how durable the memecoin business has become despite repeated predictions that the sector would disappear after speculative cycles cooled. Pump.fun remains one of the dominant gateways for launching and trading new Solana tokens, while PumpSwap has developed into a significant trading venue in its own right.
Competition remains intense. Rival launchpads and decentralized exchanges can replicate many of Pump.fun’s technical features, while memecoin volumes remain exceptionally sensitive to market sentiment. A prolonged decline in speculative activity could therefore quickly reduce fee generation. There are also questions over whether creator incentives and increasingly complex fee structures can maintain user loyalty as competing platforms attempt to undercut Pump.fun or offer larger rewards.
